Advances in Supercritical CO2 Extraction of Vegetable Functional Oils and Fats

Supercritical CO2 extraction methods of vegetable functional oils and fats were summarized and compared. The principle and technological process of supercritical CO2 extraction of vegetable functional oils and fats were introduced. The effects of extraction pressure, extraction temperature, extraction time, CO2 flow rate, entrainers and material properties on the extraction rate of vegetable functional oils and fats were summarized. The quality of oils and fats extracted by different extraction methods was discussed. Compared with other extraction methods, supercritical CO2 extraction has better physicochemical properties and higher content of unsaturated fatty acids. At the same time, the application scope and application prospect of supercritical CO2 extraction technology were analyzed. For the extraction of complex multi-component raw materials, the strategy of supercritical CO2 extraction combined with other extraction methods could better improve the extraction rate and the quality of target products.
