Study on Supercritical CO2 Extraction of Polyphenols from Corn Silk and Its Antioxidant Activity

Supercritical CO2 was used to extract polyphenols from corn silk. On the basis of single factor experiments on the effects of extraction pressure, extraction temperature, extraction time and entrainer ethanol concentration on the amount of polyphenols extracted from corn silk, the optimal extraction process was optimized by central combination design and response surface methodology. The results showed that the extraction pressure of supercritical CO2 was 37 MPa, the extraction temperature was 55 C, and the concentration of ethanol was 76%. Under these conditions, the amount of polyphenols extracted from corn silk was 8.54 mg/g. At the same time, the scavenging effect of corn silk polyphenols on DPPH free radicals showed that corn silk polyphenols had certain antioxidant capacity.
