Supercritical CO2 Extraction Machine Safety Operating Instructions for Repair and Maintenance
a)Pressure vessels, pipelines and valves of the extraction equipment must be inspected and experimented periodically according to local regulations of the user. It’s only allowed to be put into use after its conformity with local regulations.
b)Operating staff should take immediate measures to shut down the equipment, release pressure and report to the user’s relevant department if any of the following abnormal conditions happens to the supercritical extraction equipment:
Values of vessel’s working pressure, material temperature or wall temperature exceed set levels, and effective control couldn’t be obtained after measures are taken.
Dangerous signs appear, such as fracture, bulge and deformation on key pressure components, drainage hole leakage on multi-layer wrapped cylinder, etc.
Safety valve failure.
Damages of connecting pipes and fasteners which couldn’t guarantee safe operation.
Direct threats like fire to pressure vessel’s safe operation.
Failure of extraction vessel’s fast-open device.
Value of level indicator on pressure vessel exceeds the set one, and effective control couldn’t be obtained after measures are taken.
Strong vibration between pressure vessels and pipelines has a bad effect on safe operation.
Other abnormal conditions that may cause danger.
c)Malfunctioning pressure vessel should be repaired according to the solution given by relevant department after report. It’s not allowed to get it repaired and into production without authorization before solution is given. After troubleshooting, boost pressure until the vessel passes test, then it’s allowed to put it into production.
d)When there is something wrong with high pressure or atmospheric pressure pipelines, valves, flanges, fittings and instrument panels, including little leakage, wrong indication, etc., after making sure it would not interfere safe production, operating staff at extraction workshop can repair or replace that part, while following other clauses in this regulation during the process.
e)High pressure vessel should be operated under rated temperature level, and overflow port and venthole on it connected with atmosphere should be kept clear and open. Measures should be taken to get it under control when overheat occurs. Equipment should be shut down and repaired if it’s out of control.
f)During operation, it’s not allowed to release CO2, dismantle equipment, valves and fastening bolts from pipelines or vessels. Operation with malfunction is forbidden. There should be at least two operating workers during maintenance. Safety precautions should be taken. Safety rope should be prepared for aerial work.
g)Before cleaning and maintaining vessel, operating staff should release its pressure to 0MPa. Then open its cover and swap residual CO2 with compressed air. Subsequently goes oxygen detection, putting combustible materials like paper to the bottom of the vessel and confirming it burns in a normal way). Then operating workers, at least two, equipped with safety ropes could get into the vessel for cleaning and maintenance.
h)For equipment with special inspection manholes such as extraction vessel and separation vessel, if maintenance inside it is needed, specific solution should be made and carried out by technicians. Unauthorized maintenance is not allowed.
i)Safety valve should be tested according to the regulations at user’s place. It should be replaced if any of the following cases appears:
1)Loose sealing between spool and seat of safety valve, not repairable.
2)Bond-together of spool and set of safety valve, or severe corrosion and rustiness of springs.
